Who We Are

BLAQUE KC Is Done With The Status Quo
We are Black Leaders Advancing Quality Urban Education (BLAQUE), a grassroots movement of parents, teachers, young leaders, and advocates, unapologetically focused on improving educational outcomes for Black students in Kansas City and beyond.

BLAQUE is a non-profit 501(c)4 organization supporting a new generation of leaders in Kansas City and giving them the tools to advocate for our kids. We fight for good schools for Black students with people-power, elevating the voices of Black parents and holding our leaders accountable.

Three Pillars of Our Work
Black parents and families deserve a school system that fosters the academic, economic, social, and emotional well-being of all students in all zip codes. But the systems won’t fix themselves, we can only create change together.
As school boards across the country threaten to erase Black history, our work is now more urgent than ever. BLAQUE KC is dedicated to ensuring Black voices are represented in the institutions that determine whether our children will get a quality education.
